Investor Charter — Depository Participant

Responsibilities of Investors

Rights come with obligations. Most of these are small administrative habits, and the reason they matter is asymmetric: keeping an email address current takes a minute, while the consequence of not doing so is that you may not learn about a debit from your demat account until it is too late to act.

Your responsibilities

Responsibility
1.Deal only with a SEBI-registered depository participant and registered intermediaries.
2.Read all documents and terms before signing the account opening form, and keep a copy.
3.Provide complete and accurate information in the account opening form, and complete your KYC.
4.Give your own mobile number and email as registered contact details, and keep them updated.
5.Inform your DP promptly of any change in address, bank account, email, mobile number or status.
6.Register a nomination, or record an explicit opt-out, and keep it current.
7.Keep your Delivery Instruction Slip book in safe custody and never sign a blank or partially filled slip.
8.Mention ISIN, quantity and other details accurately on every instruction, and strike out blank spaces.
9.Never share your demat or trading account password, TPIN or any OTP with anyone.
10.Review your Statement of Transactions and Consolidated Account Statement when they are received.
11.Report any unauthorised or unexplained transaction to your DP immediately, in writing.
12.Pay the applicable charges as per the schedule disclosed to you, within the stipulated time.
13.Keep a record of documents signed, instructions issued and statements received.
14.Ensure all joint holders sign every instruction, in the order in which the account is held.
15.Do not act on unsolicited tips or assured-return promises, and do not deal with unregistered advisers.

The ones that actually prevent losses

  • Your own mobile and email, kept current. This single item is what makes every other alert work. If a relationship manager's number is on your account, you have no independent way to detect a problem.
  • Never a blank DIS. A signed blank slip is a bearer instrument over your securities.
  • Read the debits on your statement. Credits explain themselves later; debits do not.
  • Register a nomination. It costs nothing now and removes a great deal of difficulty for your family later.

Updating your details

Changes to address, bank account, email, mobile number or status should be submitted in the prescribed format, and you should obtain confirmation that the update has been made — not merely that the request was received.

Submit changes to dp@adityatrading.com or through the support desk. Your rights and the grievance escalation path are set out in the Investor Charter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every alert about a debit from your demat account, and every TPIN OTP, goes to the mobile number and email registered with the depository. If they are out of date you lose the ability to detect an unauthorised transaction, and you may be unable to authorise a legitimate sale.

Verify every debit against transactions you actually authorised, confirm that opening and closing balances reconcile, and check that the contact details printed on the statement are current. Report anything unexplained immediately rather than waiting for the next cycle.

Yes. Keep copies of documents you sign, DIS slips you issue and statements you receive. They establish your cost of acquisition and holding period, which matter for capital gains and for resolving any dispute.

You are expected to either register a nomination or record an explicit opt-out, and to keep it current after life events. Without one, transmission of your securities to your family requires substantially more documentation.
