Investor Charter — Online Instructions for Execution

CDSL Easiest — Transferring Shares Online

Easiest is CDSL's internet facility for moving securities out of your demat account without submitting a paper Delivery Instruction Slip. You register once, and after your depository participant activates the request you can transfer online.

Easi or Easiest — which do you need?

If all you want is to see what you hold, Easi is enough and activates immediately. Easiest is the one that can debit your account, which is why it is verified by your DP before it works.

Registering for Easiest

  • Go to the CDSL Easiest portal and choose the registration option for a Beneficial Owner (BO) account.
  • Enter your 16-digit demat account number (BO ID) — the first 8 digits are the DP ID and the last 8 identify your account.
  • Set your login credentials and complete the OTP verification sent to the mobile number and email registered with your demat account.
  • Choose your transfer setup: trusted accounts (transfer only to accounts you pre-register) or the wider option that permits transfer to any account.
  • Submit. The request goes to ATS as your depository participant for verification.
  • Once ATS verifies and CDSL activates it, you can log in and transfer.

Trusted accounts

A trusted account is a demat account you pre-register as a permitted destination. Once activated, you can transfer to it without further setup. The point is containment: if your Easiest credentials were ever compromised, securities could only move to accounts you had already nominated, not to an arbitrary one.

Registering a trusted account is itself verified before it becomes usable, so there is a deliberate delay between adding a destination and being able to send to it.

Easiest vs TPIN / e-DIS — they are not the same thing

Most clients selling through ATS use TPIN / e-DIS, not Easiest. Easiest matters when you want to move securities to another demat account yourself, rather than sell them.

Keeping it secure

  • Never share your Easiest password or the OTP — no one at ATS or CDSL will ask for either.
  • Prefer the trusted-account setup unless you have a genuine need to transfer to arbitrary accounts.
  • Check your holding statement regularly; an unexpected debit is the first sign of a problem.
  • If you suspect misuse, contact ATS immediately at dp@adityatrading.com and raise it with CDSL.

Frequently Asked Questions

Easiest (Electronic Access to Securities Information and Execution of Secured Transactions) is CDSL's internet facility that lets you transfer securities from your demat account online, without submitting a physical Delivery Instruction Slip. It also lets you view holdings and transactions across your accounts.

Easi is view-only — holdings, transactions and valuation. Easiest adds the ability to actually transfer securities out of your account. If you only want to monitor your demat account, Easi is enough; if you want to move shares online, you need Easiest.

For the "trusted account" setup, yes — you pre-register the accounts you intend to transfer to, and those become available for transfer once activated. There is also an option that allows transfer to any account, which carries a higher risk and correspondingly stricter authentication.

After you register on the CDSL portal, the request is verified by your depository participant before it becomes active. Until it is activated you can register but not transact.

No, they are different routes to the same outcome. Easiest is a CDSL web facility you register for separately. TPIN / e-DIS is the CDSL authorisation method used when you sell shares through your broker, where you authorise the debit with a PIN and OTP instead of a POA.

Use the password reset option on the CDSL Easiest login page. Because Easiest can move securities, resets are subject to CDSL's own verification — your broker cannot reset it for you.

CDSL does not charge investors for Easi/Easiest registration itself. Transfers executed through it attract the usual depository transaction charges as per the ATS schedule of charges.
